Join us at the 2010 Celebration of Teaching & Learning as we commemorate five years!!

 

THIRTEEN & WLIW21's Celebration of Teaching & Learning will mark an
important milestone on March 5 & 6, 2010 in New York City at the Hilton
New York - five years of bringing educators together to share
experiences, keep pace with the latest thinking in education, inspire
creativity and curiosity in classrooms, and shape the future of schools!
The Celebration is where knowledge meets inspiration as global experts,
activists, academics, thinkers and more than 8,500 educators address
today's most relevant issues in education related to English Language
Arts, Instructional Technology, Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math (STEM), Social Studies and Whole School Issues.

Educators will hear from dynamic, nationally acclaimed speakers and
artists. Plenary Speakers include U.S. Secretary of Education Arne
Duncan; David Gregory, Moderator, NBC's Meet the Press; Lisa Henson,
Chief Executive Officer of The Jim Henson Company; Queen Latifah,
musician and television & film actress; Bobby McFerrin, ten-time Grammy
Award winning composer, vocalist and conductor; Her Majesty Queen Noor,
international public servant; Commissioner David Milton Steiner, New
York State Education Department.

Featured Speakers include Franklin Chang Diaz, former NASA astronaut;
Linda Darling-Hammond, Stanford professor; Katherine Paterson, acclaimed
author and National Ambassador for Young People's Literature; Diane
Ravitch, historian and education author; David Rose, founder and CEO of
the Center for Applied Special Technology; Steve Spangler, "the science
guy" from the Ellen DeGeneres Show; as well as many others.

The Celebration is a BOCES CoSer-aidable professional development event
presented in partnership with BOCES of Southern Westchester,
Putnam/Northern Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Western Suffolk and
Eastern Suffolk. The Celebration is presented in collaboration with New
York State Teacher Centers. THIRTEEN is an approved professional
development vendor for the New York City Department of Education.
