Volunteer professional arts people such as artists, musicians, dancers, producers, photographers, and teachers of the arts are used to be state judges. There are four judges per arts category; there is one judge for each age group - K-2nd grades, 3rd-5th grades, 6th-8th grades and 9th-2th grades. The NYS PTA Arts in Education Chairman coordinates the judging event.
