Membership Awards

Membership awards can be earned for many different reasons. The awards are a great way to show parents in your school how active and successful your PTA is! There are some awards that are automatically earned and others that need to be applied for (details about the application process are mailed to the unit presidents in February). Remember, though, that in order to qualify for any membership awards, a PTA unit must be in good standing. Automatic Awards:

Early Bird Award Certificate
The Early Bird Award certificate is awarded to units that made a payment on or before October 20 that equaled at least 50% of the previous year’s membership. Only payments received on or before October 20 will qualify for this award.

Founders Day Award Certificate
The Founders Day Award certificate is awarded to units that sold and made a membership payment of at least 15 members during the month of February. Payment must be submitted using membership dues payment form. Only payments received on or before March 1 will qualify for this award.

Membership Growth Award Certificate
This certificate is awarded to units when the total membership increases by at least 5% over last year’s March 31 membership total. Please note that units must not have had any outstanding membership issues from last year in order to be eligible for this award. This award is calculated automatically, there is no application for this award.

Awards to be Applied for:

President’s Letter of Community Involvement
This award is presented to a unit for enrolling 10 or more members outside of the immediate school family of students, parents and teachers in your building.

100% Teacher Membership Certificate
This certificate is awarded to a unit for enrolling 100% of their home school based certified teachers (where the teacher gets their pay check is considered their home school).

Focus on Fathers Award Certificate
The Focus on Fathers Award is presented to every unit in which 25% of the total membership are men (dads, stepfathers, grandfathers, male teachers, male students, or any male interested in advocating for children and youth). This award is offered again with the hope that more men will join in PTA’s commitment to children.

Special Membership Award Incentives:

Early Bird Award: All units who qualify for the Early Bird Award will be entered in a drawing that will take place at the opening of the NYS PTA Convention in November. One unit from each region will be randomly drawn from among those eligible in that region. The unit drawn will receive a $25 gift certificate for use at the NYS PTA Store. This certificate can be used for in person purchases or for orders placed by mail to the NYS PTA Store Manager.

Membership Growth Award: The unit that achieves the highest membership growth in each region will receive $50 from NYS PTA. The unit with the highest growth in the state will receive $100.

Please note: Membership growth calculations are based upon paid membership as of March 31 of that membership year. Any late payments made after March 31 of the previous membership year are not counted toward membership awards. Only units with no outstanding membership issues at the close of the membership year (all payments have been made and all unused cards returned) will be eligible for this incentive.

Membership awards are determined based on the membership payments received in the State PTA office on or before specified deadlines. Units that miss the deadlines for payments, or units that are not in good standing will not be eligible for awards.
