Leadership Award in Honor of Jane Skrzypek Recipient - 2009

The 2009 New York State PTA Leadership Award in Honor of Jane Skrzypek winner is Susan Godreau of North Country Region PTA! She was presented the award at the 2009 Convention banquet. Susan has a long list of PTA accomplishments, beginning at the unit level, quickly rising from there to region board, and on to the NYS PTA Board of Managers while serving as Region Director 2003-2006. Involved in her community as well, she has worked tirelessly for PTA in many roles. One letter of nomination stated, “Jane Skrzypek encouraged parents to become active in their children’s education and inspired others to become leaders and strong advocates for children. Susan has always lived this ideal…she is always upbeat, dedicated, dependable, and knowledgeable. She inspires others, bringing out the best in them by sharing… unstintingly of herself.”

The Leadership Award in Honor of Jane Skrzypek was created to honor that special someone in a PTA unit, council or region who always supports the group in such a way that their leadership leaves a legacy. Their accomplishments stand out in a group of leaders. Jane Skrzypek, as a mentor, inspired others to volunteer, and, as a leader, enabled others to lead.
